Our school room

Most of our schooling is done at the dining room table or the living room floor. I try to convince the girls to stay OUT of their bedrooms as more often then not I find Koda asleep on her bed with her nose stuck in her book.

We work mostly with a modified "workbox" method. All of our stuff is in milk crates and are color coded. Koda is red, Kirky is purple and Nani is yellow.

We have a large flannel board with our calender cards on it that we got from Counting Coconuts. Our favorite seems to be the Disney characters and Nani promptly tells everyone how she is just like each of the princesses.

The newest addition to our " room " was this art inspired by Busted Button . She is pretty much my favorite crafty lady right now. I turned our tree into a ABC tree complete with scrapbook stickers and BUTTONS.

one of my new favorites
Also we have our companions at "school" time of our piggies:
Marshmallow and Carmel

I havn't disappeared

So there is a few reasons why I havnt been blogging more. Plenty has been going on I just haven't documented it because:
  • Ding dong me forgot my password
  • I have been stretched a bit thin
  • We moved (yet again)
  • Started a new job ( yet again)
  • Have I mentioned I'm a bit thin?

Everyone has been doing well. Little baby boy isn't so little as he crawls around the house and destroys everything. Nanners decided that she wants to be called "Nani" now and has been doing great through therapy with the move. We were homeschooling Koda originally but now Kirky has joined us again full time. She will be starting up in the fall after Labor day. Koda is still doing summer homework as we took several needed breaks throughout the year so we are a bit behind. But I'm ok with that. It is one of the many perks of homeschooling.

I am hoping to get a 10 post series on why homeschooling works for our family. In the meantime enjoy a few pictures of the minions to keep you going.

Back in the swing

So we havnt done as many hands on fun activities since Ryder was born. Between moving twice and new jobs we were stretched thin. I am hoping to start up again now that we are settling down. We are homeschooling now full time Koda and Kirsten along with the 2 little ones. I cant wait to see what this new year holds

A normal birth

I saw this on a site somewhere and thought it was beautiful. Cant wait to have our homebirth

This is 2 weeks ago. Less than 10 to go!

~Instructions for attending a normal birth~
Watch me.
Watch me lean over and groan.
Watch me sway or rock or dance.
Watch me find my rhythm.
Watch me breathe through a contraction.
As it ends, watch me have a drink of water.
Then watch me relax myself, resting, waiting for the next wave.
Then watch me breathe again.
As you sit there, just outside the vortex, know that my world has shrunk to a bubble.
Be careful. Don’t burst it.
A careless word, a bright light… they would be unwelcome right now.
Watch in awe I play out the age-old miracle.
The world turns for me, the edges go fuzzy, time turns inside out.
There’s a big slithery feeling
And then there’s a BABY!
Warm and slippery and fresh from my own body.
Worth every push, grunt, drop of sweat.
Worth every tightening, every stretch mark.
Wait! I’m still in my bubble. It is not finished yet.
Keep your hats and your clamps and your scissors and needles.
Keep your telephones, your scales, your exclamations
Keep us warm and keep the room quiet and still.
Watch me meet me baby.
Watch his eyes find mine.
Watch his hands and then his mouth find my nipple.
Watch me discover in wonder each finger, each hair, each wrinkle
Don’t disturb the awe of this first meeting.
Please. Just watch.

New Crochet stuff

Well one of my old friends from highschool just had a beautiful baby boy. She asked if I could come up with a small blanket for him.  She gave me free reign and said blue, green, yellow and make it cute. I can totally live with that.

Enter the pattern from here - totally cute and adorable

I have also been making some toys for our little Booger for when He/She/It arrives in October.

this cute rattle from here

I cant wait to get everything finished!
