New Years Goals in 50 words

My 2016 resolution in exactly 40 words. I challenged my olders to do the same. Here's to a new year!

Speak kindness when possible. Self love and appreciation. Be the example I long to see in my children and my husband. Be a beacon of light, hope and joy. Consistent dates and reconnection to my spouse. Delving deeper into inner work and self love and realization. Knit a sweater. knit socks.

Adult coloring books {KCCO}

My husband got me one of these "adult coloring books" for my Christmas present this year.  It amazes me what some of these costs for simple pages printed and bound but I guess whatever sells right? I am enjoying having these at my desk at work to slowly go through since it will take me a good long while due to how detailed it is. I am thinking of splurging and bringing my nice colored pencils from home vs dollar store colored pencils that are breaking every pencil stroke.

So excited!

Content and exhausted...

Some time to reflect on the last week and share some things that have made me grateful.
No time to be depressed when you are happy for what you have.
****************************

...wool socks. For real. If you do not own a pair, or 3, you need to. I promise. You will thank me later.

...passing emissions testing on the first try with my car. This never ever happens and we usually end up with crazy repairs needed before we can get new license plates.

...receiving Shemp's body and paw print back. Made it even more surreal but actually put me at peace to know he is home again.

...getting through a successful Polar Express run at work. This my be our last year doing it so Nanners, Ryguy, Mark and got to experience a train for the first time. Completely magical.

... a final realization that it is truly ok for me to be on the medications I am on. I was worried for a long time about becoming an addict as our family is full of them however this month has been a true realization of how much I have gotten my life back. Months ago I couldn't stay awake past 6pm and if you had mentioned the word overtime at work I would have laughed in your face. This month I have worked over 25 hours of OT alone and am now able to stay awake past 8pm. Bedtime is at the latest of 9 so I'm *living dangerously* but it is fabulous progress.

...having enough paid time off to take a day when I finally crashed to sleep for 3 hours.

...a 3 1/2 day holiday weekend to enjoy with my kids.

...as horrible I hate to admit. Monster.

...a brother who decides to spend his free time with his nieces and nephews and babysits almost on demand.

The last few christmas gifts... {KCCO}

Remember how in the past I have always said, "I don't sew"... Well. I didn't. Until now. Randy was supposed to have helped me with Beanie and Mark's PJ pants for Christmas after the entire sweater fiasco.  One thing lead to another and they ended up my lap at work. I will be finished with them with maybe 2 days to spare but they will be done! Mind you they are not perfect but I hope all of the kids enjoy their handmade gifts this year.

What are you crafting this year?

Grateful day

Some time to reflect on the last week and share some things that have made me grateful.
No time to be depressed when you are happy for what you have.
********************************

...Wonderful memories of our Shemperdoodle. We were forced to put him down after he got into something toxic that put his body into kidney failure and seizures. It was very painful and hard for Randy and I especially since his 2nd birthday was coming up. We miss him horribly but are grateful we gave him the best life we could in the short time we had him.

...Our furnace not needing to be replaced but simply repaired for the cost of a case of beer.

...Keeping up with  a new tradition of lighting of our advent wreath

...overtime at work. I am exhausted and worn but since we have had bills rack up the money is appreciated.

...Baby brother buying me groceries for our Christmas present since we are so broke.
...A day of paid time off soon approaching. I hope to sleep in.

...2 flat tires that could be repaired at home vs needing to be replaced.

...Coworkers that love me and try to make me smile for my birthday.

St. Nicholas came to visit.

On Saturday morning St. Nicholas came to visit with our kindness fairy, Sally. He brought gold coins, candy canes and peppermint patties with a nice little note to remind the kids to be "sweet" to one another.

What did St. Nicholas bring your family this year?
